However, at the time the game was referred to as lotto in opposition to Bingo. But the strategies of the game bare a close resemblance to the game that we all enjoy today. Merchants began to travel around Europe spreading the game as they went.
The History of Bingo is a marvelous tale
The 18th century brought the game of Bingo to France. The game that was being played back in France is actually extremely similar to the game that we all enjoy today. However, the only thing that lacks in comparison is the cards that they were using.
The next country that allowed Bingo to influence their way of life was Germany. They used the game as a means to teach children that were attending learning institutions. These games are predecessors to the children Bingo games that we find in stores today.
Around 1930, the game of Bingo was introduced to the United States. Edwin Lowe witnessed some people playing a game of beano at a carnival. Lowe decided to join in on the excitement and upon winning yelled Bingo instead of Beano. The people that were playing liked the sound of the word, and decided to use it from then on.
The letters being added on came later when a small church in Pennsylvania was desperate to find funds to be able to help with their youth clubs and things of that nature. They assumed that adding the name to the card would make the game more enjoyable.
The history of Bingo is actually quiet intriguing. Bingo peaked on the United States around the 1970′s and has begun to continue to flourish since. People love playing the game, they develop a sense of peace and relaxation and they have the opportunity to win an immense amount of money.
